Maceo Hodzic by Celia Crown

This book has such an interesting feel to it due to Mateo being former Black Ops and basically being a lethal weapon, intelligence genius, and seriously hot, but emotionless alpha protector.  I think the last was the best part of the story because given how hard Mateo appeared in every situation, it was clear his love for Lana was deep and unwavering.

Lana held all the cards in this story and played them strategically one by one - except Mateo always seemed to be one step ahead of her.  He had taught her skills for self preservation that saved her life, but then she turned around and tried to use them on him and he wasn’t playing that game.

I really enjoyed the action, intrigue and the way the author made the characters stand out with some distinctive traits.  The ending was quite the surprise and well done.
