Alexis Adaire writes a book about Marcus, a bad boy you love to hate, and Rashida, his complete opposite. I really did dislike Marcus. He used women like playthings, he used his celebrity to get them to do whatever he wanted, he disrespected his teammates by being a ball hog and he did his best to ignore or avoid fans. For starters.
We get a glimpse that Marcus might have something different going on is when he first meets Rashida. She is a single mom that works at the hotel where he brings his hook ups. How he relates with Rashida’s son is also telling. There were some women that Marcus respected - those in his family, for example, but this would not have worked so well if Rashida had not been his opposite.
For me, I had to tell myself to keep reading because of my aversion to Marcus. That isn’t an opinion that this is a bad book. Quite the opposite. This means keep reading because you will be surprised at the difference between Marcus at the beginning and Marcus at the end. Alexis Adaire convinced me that this “man whore” and “man child” could change. I loved how it ended. Read it and see for yourself.
