The story between Markus and Fallon is sinister and dark from the very first page. If you are going to wait for Markus to soften up, be prepared for a long wait because he is truly dedicated to brooding and debauchery.
Fallon is full of secrets and despite her status as a captive and being presented with a variety of threats, she lies to and betrays Markus religiously. He comes up with some really good threats to get the truth from her, but she’s stubborn and committed to keeping those secrets.
The entire story kept me glued to the pages. Markus is quite unpredictable. What you can count on from him is dismissive behavior, threats, dirty talk and actions that back that up. He has his moments of conflict that make the book all the better.
