I’m really glad I read PUNK 57. If I hadn’t read the blurb for the book, I might have passed it over, but the childhood pen pals growing up really appealed to me.
Mysteries and secrets are kept nearly to the very end, and they are good ones. Misha is unconventional, driven in his own way. What makes the story so good is we have every reason to not trust him and to question his relationship with Ryen, but even when he does unlikeable things, we still see through it.
Ryen is so much less grounded and needs Misha more than he needed her - that’s my opinion, not Misha’s. Her layers are revealed little by little.
It’s a good book that will keep your attention from start to finish.
