SAVAGE BRUTE my first foray into the shifter realm so I’m coming from a completely fresh perspective. Dax is a bad boy alpha serving a life sentence for a murder he didn’t commit. After close to three years in a brutal prison environment, Dax is released temporarily on bail awaiting a new trial.
He returns home to his family in a mythical crisis resulting from a century old voodoo curse. Dax and his brothers have to take a mate before the year is out or they will become insane with hunger for human flesh.
As a new reader of this type of paranormal romance, my observations are that in much of the book Dax and his fated mate, Margot, are apart and when together are either fighting or working on the mating thing.
It was an interesting story following first the legend resulting in the wolf part of the family members. Then there is the killing because of the wolf part taking over the urges of some of the weaker family members. On top if that, Dax is trying to take revenge on those that framed him for murder while preparing for a new trial, filling in for his retiring dad on the mafia business, and protecting his mate.
There is a lot to enjoy in this story and it made me want to read another book or so if this type.
