The sky is falling...

Debt ceiling. Default. Cut, cap and whatever. I'm tired of it. Of course, I could stop watching news channels all day, but that's for another post.

We expect game playing by our politicians in the US. It's all about getting reelected or preventing someone else from getting elected, and all the money that goes with it. On some level, though, while the loud mouthed politicians were doing their public posturing, there was always some reassurance the smart ones were in a room someplace doing the actual work. In this case it is the "gang of six". Today's circumstances do not support the kind of compromise needed for a successful resolution. When you have politicians like Joe Walsh and Eric Cantor who are more interested in making a name for themselves than representing the interests of their constituents, you have the worst scenario.

On Morning Joe, Pat Buchanan kept hammering away on the support for the temporary solution. I don't want to listen to this for another six months because Republicans are worried about reelection. From people I know, they should be worried anyway because this stonewalling is ridiculous. The little people don't want to see them lie to us so they can protect the interests of their biggest donors. Sure, the Democrats are going to their donors for money and help putting the pressure on, but the difference is who each group protects. The Democrats largely protect the working people, the middle class, the poor. The GOP under the guise of less government (except when it is convenient to legislate our private life) want to spend less government money on people that aren't contributing to their campaigns -- the poor, elderly, minorities.

You can't expect to fund government services on the backs of the poor because the poor don't have any money...
