Matvei is another hot, ruthless and confirmed bachelor mafia Don. He puts the Russian in Russian Roulette. No one crosses him or his own. No one questions him. Attack him and expect the be attacked equally. Mess with those he loves, and expect to die.
He acquires Victoria as payment on a gambling from her drunk father. He needs a nanny for the 5 year old in his care.
This story had all the mafia high points, but what it did so well was having Matvei be so unfeeling and imperious in his dealings with Victoria, but giving very subtle glimpses to the heart within him. Victoria had just the right amount of stubbornness to get herself in trouble, but not appear childish or annoying.
I liked the overall story especially who the “enemy” was. It was a creative idea to begin with but deliciously unpredictable. I am always trying to figure out who the bad guy is and this one really fooled me. Well done!
