I enjoyed this book a great deal. The marriage was arranged when Victoria was 16 and 12 years have passed. She only heard from the king once during those years. He was trying to get their country back on its feet.
Victoria was so committed to being Queen material throughout those 12 years. The king’s advisors thought he should marry someone that would benefit the country but Maximilian wanted to keep his promise.
That was before he saw Victoria again and then he really wanted to keep his promise. It was all steam from the moment those two got together.
