In book 2 of this trilogy, Cassandra learns the dark side of Xavier’s involvement in “ The Council”. When she has a hard time accepting the criminal nature of his activities, she returns to her childhood home to reset. It is when she is here we learn that her life before her parents and sister died was quite a bit different.
The suspense, action and danger in this book kept me reading. Jordan is shaping up to be the most interesting character after Xavier and Cassandra. Their exploration continues at the Midnight and Twilight rooms. Lives continue to be threatened and the three friends and Cassandra have to rely on each other for safety.
The second book ends rather peacefully for Xavier and Cassandra, but we learn there is more ahead in book 3. With the state of The Council, Xavier’s family businesses and the likelihood of repercussions if some of their activities become know, the peace seems deceptive.
