It’s got everything: stalkers, jealousy, distrust, miscommunication, adult club, corporate espionage, and much more. It’s been a long time since I’ve read a series starter that is really about something new like the gem trade, and Ainsley St. Claire is so meticulous in her research about the worlds she creates.
You should read the novella prequel, Original Sin, to get a sense of how the company and its rival, Amal got started. It is available from a BookFunnel link in the book.
