MY ONE REGRET is an excellent title for this book as you will see from the very first part of the story. I rarely start with tears fro the beginning but I couldn’t help it.
The “regret” takes place in the present and much of the story is devoted to Hades and Sadie developing a relationship despite Sadie’s very real reluctance.
Very integral in this story is the role of emotional abuse in families from all walks of life. Whether it is the chronic alcoholism of Sadie’s mother or the full-on insanity of Hade’s ex-wife, the children pay the price in some manner for some or most of their lives.
The characters are great. I loved the intensity of Hades balanced by the levelheadedness of Sadie. Great ending, too.
