The first pages of this book set a hot, sensual tone that continues through the story. Max and Opal have sizzling chemistry. The book also has a cloud of grief hanging over it - and that grief is the reason Max is in New York.
It’s a really good book that has a foot in the art world as well as particular carnal tastes Opal meets Max to explore. Opal’s brothers, who I have read about in other books in the series, are nosy and she still has the relationship with her older brother Simon to whom she is accountable.
After reading it, though, I get the feeling of unfinished business and it is unsettling. Opal is young and has school in New York. Max is staying California. We are teased about Max’s identity as an artist. I need more.
