The real time portion of the story takes place during the fall of Afghanistan in 2021. Izzy is a Congressional aid on an advance team fact finding mission, and Nate is charged with her security.
But the story toggles back and forth between Afghanistan and the various events of the ten years leading up to it - years that Izzy and Nate have brief encounters running parallel to their “real lives”.
It’s a real page turner. I’m not a usual reader of the military romance, but I love me some ripped Special Forces and a strong woman.
