I liked PROTECT for the flavor it gave to the men and women that fight wildfires. It was especially timely as the wildfires in the western US were causing havoc. I knew some of the details of the job but this book raised awareness of the human cost. These are not just regular firefighters that get put into these situations. They have special skills and face unique challenges.
The romance didn’t really grab me, though. I wasn’t really sold on liking Rowan for a few reasons, but even as the story progressed the love story part felt hollow.
