Lucy Score has such a talent for creating memorable characters that shine because of their imperfections. FOREVER NEVER is the story of Remi and Brick and the fifteen years between them.
What makes this a great story is the unique details like Remi’s talent, the atmosphere of winter on Mackinac Island when the tourists are gone, and Brick’s internal battle of doing what he thinks is right. He also is the protector not just because of his job, but because he makes people feel safe. The role of family and friends is also always important in a Lucy Score story.
The romance is intense. By the time the slow burn leaps into flames, the reader is ready to lock the two of them in a room and not let them out until everything is sorted. Once they give in, they get high marks for keeping it spicy.
The humor is sophisticated; not relying on fart jokes - oh wait, it does rely on some fart jokes - but it comes from the layers of the characters. Remi is described as a “wild child”, so she does things that are unexpected, but not for gratuitous attention and that’s often “shake your head in wonder” funny.
So, there is danger, suspense, humor, romance, and small town family drama in FOREVER NEVER.
