CAPTIVE BRIDE is more a psychological thriller than a romance although Ember and Christopher fall in love during their captivity. Ember’s Papa Rich is one sick dude and controls her with fear and God. The setting of a mining ghost town in Nevada was so well written I can see it.
This is a different kind of forced proximity/arranged marriage romance. No exchange of a bride for a settlement of a debt, and no plan for uniting empires through marriage. In fact, try to decide what the motivation for Papa Rich marrying Ember off is. I’m still thinking about it.
So I am ready for the second book, which is available at the time of reading this book. There is so much about this book that is haunting and the ending was at a nail biting moment.
