SLAP SHOT was not as much about hockey as I like, but it was an interesting story with two main paths of drama - Vaughn and his dad and Juliet and her fiancé.
If a puck to the head can be considered a meet cute, the two meet for Vaughn to smooth the PR nightmare of the puck incident. The contrast between Vaughn and her family becomes a focal point of the story and it kept me turning the pages.
The romance had a some spice but fairly tame on the “can’t live without you” feeling.
