As the first book in a new series, DEVIANT HEARTS lays out a large cast of characters on both Ares’ and Neve’s parts since it is about joining their Greek and Irish mafia families in New York. Ares Drakos is the head of the Greek mafia and Neve is the niece of the Irish leader Cillian Kildare.
As the families unite by arranged marriage, the businesses merge, but the dangers also put bullseyes on the backs of both families. Neve is the catalyst for most of the conflict in this story and we get to enjoy Ares being her protector and hero.
Neve is a sassy woman not ready to be told what to do by all alpha, all the time Ares which makes their “battle” extra steamy and full of push and pull chemistry. But Neve is also a smart woman and knows when to be difficult, and knows when to stop. Ares starts out entertained by her and then he finds all the ways she deserves his respect.
I loved the book and will read the other books in the series. I received this book from the author to read in advance and this is my voluntary review.
