Best Friend’s Broody Brother by Melinda Minx

I have mixed feelings about this story.  Natalie was pretty good - she had her act together but her friend, Vince wasn’t much of a friend because he set her up, lied to her and manipulated her ostensibly for his brother’s happiness but I think more for himself not wanting Volt to leave and live in China.

Volt was brought to his knees by his ex-wife (we get the details in a trickle) and uses that to push everyone away and maintain feelings of inadequacy and rage.  He didn’t even show much outward affection to the children.  Speaking of the children, Henry was the most stable person in the story and he was 6. Unfortunately he will observe the weaknesses of the older men in the story.

This book was well written and it could be for you.  There are a lot of unique elements and threads in the story.  It just wasn’t for me.

Grumpy Single Dad by Melinda Minx

While 4 year old Alex could easily be the star of this story, I enjoyed reading. GRUMPY SINGLE DAD for Wendy and Roan, too.  Roan is the grumpy single dad, but he’s a grumpy boss but very charming as a dad.

Wendy tried to get Roan to see the error of his thinking that good workers are those that are afraid of the boss.  It doesn’t take long for them to recognize their attraction for each other and how Alex has taken to her.

There are a mixture of light moments and those with more drama resulting in a book I read from start to finish without putting it down.

Fake Single Dad by Melinda Minx

FAKE SINGLE DAD is a clever, lighthearted story with unique, engaging characters.  Fiona is at one end of the spectrum as responsible, caring, inquisitive, and Wilder on the opposite end; arrogant, entitled and irresponsible.  Fiona has it so together she knows that Wilder is nothing but trouble.  And that, my friends, is how the story begins.

This is the tale of an elaborate ruse that seems like a good idea at the time, but as feelings gel, the realization that it was a really bad idea comes to light.

I enjoyed this story with that thought “no, don’t do that” in my mind so often.  It was cleverly written and had unique subplots taking place in the Nevada desert.

How To Knock Up Your Nurse by Melinda Minx

This is the first book I have read the opened with the man nipple.  It was all uphill from there.  Silas was the carefree billionaire bachelor that like what he saw in Emily while in the ER.  He gets to show his possessive side more than once even though he only knew her for one day before she left for Alaska to work.

She returns 5 years later and things are different.  I would say Emily was always the more serious of the two, but in watching them together for a longer period of time, it’s clear Silas has grown, too.

Elijah is the funniest person in the story.  You can’t help it smile reading about his antics and how the other characters respond to him.  He really adds to the lighthearted flavor of this story.

How To Wife Your Nanny by Melinda Minx

 I loved this book. First of all, the humor and metaphors are smart and funny.  The relationships are wonderful - Noah is a loving, indulgent father, Naomi a precocious, happy little girl, and Lacey a sweet, loyal young woman.

Noah is one of those fathers that does anything to make his little girl happy even if it make him look ridiculous.  Lacey knows what to say to impatient little girls to calm them down.  I liked that Noah never avoided answering one of Naomi’s “difficult” questions in a way that would make sense to a child.

Noah and Lacey just clicked from the beginning how they handled the challenges of their relationship considering the impact on Naomi was an important part of the story. They had loads of chemistry.

All in all, I found this to be a creative, delightful, and passionate story that romcom lovers will enjoy and I will be looking forward more books to read by this author.
