Take Care, Taylor by Whitney G

I really enjoyed this book about Taylor and Audrey. Taylor being the football star, but an atypical one. Audrey being the brilliant writer that didn’t want to be a writer. And then the two of them who tormented each other when they were younger yet never let each other go. We learn their secrets and watch them admit their true feelings for one another at long last.

Devilish Bully by Whitney G

I liked the story and each character’s role in the business and in the relationship. The “moment” where they crossed the line didn’t work for me, though. It didn’t feel like the groundwork had been laid adequately for that love/hate moment. Lucian was tough and super guarded. We didn’t get a lot of moments of him letting his guard down where it would matter. 

I Wish I Would’ve Warned You by Whitney G

I started and finished this book the same day because it was that enthralling. This is a forbidden romance, angsty, hot and even poignant. I was able to predict some of what would happen, but the way it was written had me immersed in the story. I also had to smile at the phrase written on the business card Cole received late in the story.

From the oddness of their first meeting to the shadow of their second meeting, Cole and Emily did not get much of a chance to have what they deserved together. I read an advance of the book somewhat reluctantly at first. I don’t find the step-sibling trope that interesting because while it seems forbidden, these two were not related. What makes it good for this story, though, is the impact on others, so it’s another book I thoroughly enjoyed.

Selfish Suit by Whitney G

I knew SELFISH SUIT was a novella going in. I knew I was going to be disappointed when it ended. I was right. Ivy is such a fun character, but she sure meets her match in Dominic. 

He’s the boss no one looks in the eye, who strolls through the office and everyone scrambles to look busy. Ivy is the intern who is contrary, always late, and brilliant. They butt heads over her side gig delivery UberEats and it’s a funny, romantic and swoon-worthy ride. He shows her a side no sees. She shows him someone that can set his life on end. I read an advance copy of this book so you could jump right in and know you are going to enjoy your time spent reading it.

My Totally Unfair Deal by Whitney G

MY TOTALLY UNFAIR DEAL is a nod to “My Fair Lady” but done so clever that I couldn’t put it down. I was chuckling at Harrison from the first pages - you’ll love his unique occupation. I adored Eliza from the very start as a whip smart young woman that didn’t really need that much polish. She did need the opportunity to be part of Harrison’s life, however.

Has humor, spice and a guy unwillingly falling in love with his best friend’s sister. I wish I could read it again for the first time.

One Sweet Lie by Whitney G

What I really loved about ONE SWEET LIE was Harlow. Her snark and sarcasm were top notch. She’s my favorite kind of FMC - appearing tough on the outside while barely holding it together on the inside. The author does a great job showing us the contrast between these two sides making her endearing and funny.

Pierce is a grouch, or as Harlow puts it, he has a stick up his rear. He winds up with twin infants and what is so swoon worthy is this tough guy becomes a reluctant, overprotective, devoted dad. The work-life thing is not clearly laid out but the number of people that work for him is impressive.

I was entertained by the story and enjoy this author.

Forever Writing You by Whitney G

I’m glad I knew FOREVER WRITING YOU was going to be short before I started reading it because I would have wanted a lot more of the story with these characters. I wanted to see some of them get to love one another a bit more and others get a little more of what they had coming to them.

I didn’t have trouble figuring out the timeline of events particularly how long it had been that Everett and Dahlia had been apart in relation to Everett’s relationship with Carmen. I had an early copy of this novella to peruse and provide my opinion on. It was good, but I was left wanting more.

Filthy Lawyer by Whitney G

This author writes books I love.  I can’t say that about many people. FILTHY LAWYER is reminiscent of the series Suits with Damien being the shark with a dubious start to his career at the firm. He has so many contradictory layers that we love to hate him, and love to love him.

Elizabeth is equally an enigma, especially the way Whitney G puts her story together. I had all sorts of scenarios going on in my head trying to figure her out, but I couldn’t do it and I love a book that can make me think and not make it easy for me.

So, the filthy part? Yes. Damien has that down from the first page. Elizabeth? Well, he’s kind of irresistible in a so bad it’s good way.

I had the opportunity to read an early copy of this book. My honest opinion is that it’s worth reading, and I’m about to read its predecessor, Reasonable Doubt, again because it wasn’t enough.

I Wish I Would’ve Chosen You by Whitney G

I know when I get a Whitney G book, I am going to get sucked into an emotional rabbit hole, and that is the case with I WISH I WOULD HAVE CHOSEN YOU. I was really on the edge of my seat on one hand, while simultaneously afraid to look around the next corner on the other in this forbidden romance.

This is so much of a “what were you thinking?” story but told so well. The author has very clever ways of structuring her stories. She also has a way of making me so angry with the characters for their choices then searching for any loophole to forgive them. You won’t be disappointed reading this story, but it is a messy one.

I have been waiting for the advanced copy of this book to come out so I could read it and give my honest opinion on it.

The Office Guest by Whitney G

When I have a Whitney G book to read, the best thing to do is get right to it.  THE OFFICE GUEST itself is an app that sets singles up with dates for holiday parties at work or home. The funny thing is we learn early on that Georgia has a rocky relationship with those running the app. Then we find out that’s not the only rocky relationship she has, but she really shines in her diligent, unique way of handling them.

Dominic is her big boss and “worst boss ever” at Georgia’s job where her under appreciated quirks put her squarely in the “worse employee ever” category.

As the meat of the story unfolds, we are treated to this lovable yet rare personality that is Georgia. I loved the humor. I loved how Dominic got her when others didn’t. I really wanted more of these two and was entertained with this holiday novella.

I Wish I Would’ve Told You by Whitney G

I didn’t even realize the passage of time while reading I WISH I WOULD’VE TOLD YOU, it was that engrossing.  It’s a story you have to experience plot-wise to really appreciate.  

Writing-wise I really enjoyed the format of using letters to various people to set the stage for the chapters. It doesn’t have a dull moment, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I read an advance copy.  This is a voluntary review.

Pretend It’s Real, For Me by Whitney G

This is one of those longing from afar second chance stories that doesn’t have a ton a baggage.  It has a great story merging the MMA world and figure skating.  When Travis asks Tatiana to PRETEND IT’S REAL, FOR ME, he’s not only bringing them back together at a crucial point in his career, but he is breaking their long standing ruse to pretend they don’t know one another whenever they meet.

Because Travis’ sister is Tatiana’s skating rival and (later) best friend.  She can’t avoid him entirely.  It’s the best kind of love story because there is only one way it can end up.

The story jumps back and forth between past and present - not my favorite format.  Whitney G does this in a way that reveals the layers of Travis and Tatiana’s relationship struggles.

The Other Belle by Whitney G

THE OTHER BELLE is not a contemporary retelling of Beauty and the Beast.  There are horses, swords and a bit of magic like a respectable fairy tale should have.  Not only will you recognize elements of the original fairy tale, but the author casts other recognizable fairy tale personalities as secondary characters, further defining this fantastical world.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the story was inspired by Wicked, the retelling of the Wizard of Oz since I enjoyed how that retelling elevated the fairy tale to something beyond a bedtime story.  In THE OTHER BELLE, the characters are forced to break from the fantasy world and face the real feelings of betrayal, anger, jealousy, fear, loss and love.

This is a departure from Whitney G’s contemporary romances.  Read it without trying to make it fit certain expectations, and you will enjoy the journey into THE OTHER BELLE’s world.

Definitely Not Him by Whitney G

Chloe is one of those people that is funny without trying.  She’s honest, irreverent, and feels things deeply.  In DEFINITELY NOT HIM, Tyler is a Prince that is tired of the fake mess of the royal family and the inability to have a private life with the kind of press interest he generates.

I loved this book right from the start beginning with Chloe’s boss Hazel calling after hours for the umpteenth emergency - and it was a real doozie.  She spends her 30th birthday with a man she never met before and they were both intriguing to one another for different reasons.

So when Tyler moves from London to the Pacific Northwest, will he be able to start a new life without the scrutiny of being a royal?  Even more importantly, will he be able to find Chloe again and pick up where they left off?  All I can say is “not quite”.

Wasted Love With You by Whitney G

I should have had a pad of paper by my kindle while reading book 1 of WASTED LOVE WITH YOU.  At every turn, another question went unanswered or something suspicious and possibly relevant took place. 

 I can see why Whitney G had to break the story into parts.  There is definitely not a word wasted. Taking time to craft all these intersecting parts is going to give us one heck of a trilogy.

Can You Handle It? by Whitney G

 There’s a like to like about this new addition to The Naughty Bedroom series.  The novella length of this story is just right for a quick steamy read.  The general feel of the story is a whirlwind fantasy type romance you’d wish happened when everything else seemed to go wrong.  With Harlow finally giving in to her attraction to her best friend’s younger brother, she was doing something for herself that she knew would be great.

They couldn’t tell Chelsea what was going on and with both Tyler and Harlow being part of his sister’s fourth wedding, things get pretty uncomfortable making everyone remember what is important.

Reasonable Doubt (full series) by Whitney G

This is a fabulous book.  I wanted to hate Andrew for his callous treatment of everyone, but as his story unfolds, it became impossible to hate him.  Whitney G did a wonderful job revealing the complicated layers of this character.

Aubrey made him break his “one dinner, one night, no repeats” rule over and over again.  I am a big fan of situations like the one in which they met.  Their first meeting couldn’t have been played out any better.

So REASONABLE DOUBT was a three volume collection.  This version is all three volumes in one set up in parts so the reader can still appreciate the cliffhangers before moving on.  This is the way to read it because waiting after those cliffhangers would have been brutal.

I loved the tragedy, the conflict and the romance in this story.  There are plenty of surprises, too.  Read it.

Mister Weston (Turbulence) by Whitney G

Mr. Weston, the character, did his best to make sure no one liked him.  That was part of his charm.  Gillian had to really read between the lines to find something tolerable about him, but their shared carnal appetite kept them tolerating one another.

Their first rendezvous after meeting at a party is one of the best “one night stand” encounters I can remember reading.  It certainly highlighted the kind of “crazy” that enabled Gillian to see the qualities Jake had that were not immediately apparent.

Once Jake’s secrets start taking shape, you’ll realize how more there is to this book than just the romance.  There are quite a few twists that hit a high mark for creativity.

The only thing I did not like was the nonlinear timeline for the story.  Not only was it not linear, it also jumped around through time in a way that led to confusion rather than clarity.  Don’t let that put you off from what is otherwise a really good book.

On A Wednesday by Whitney G

I’m speechless after reading ON A WEDNESDAY.  This story just melted my heart with the telling of Kyle and Courtney’s college years and then 6 years later.

Other than making me fall completely in love with Kyle, the way this story unfolded was really masterful writing by Whitney G.  Usually when an author tells part of the story in the present, then has a flashback section going back and forth, I feel like the past intrudes on building the emotions for an HEA in the present and I tolerate the past to move the present forward.  

Not so in ON A WEDNESDAY.  I didn’t want either the past or present to end.  They were both that good. There is so much going on in this story but it is put together brilliantly.  It’s funny, heartwarming and heartbreaking and it doesn’t hurt that the anticipation builds in the best way.

I read a lot of books and I rarely say “this is one of the best books I have read this year”, but, I’m saying it.

My Enemy Next Door by Whitney G

This story is certainly an original idea and I enjoyed it.  It is about two people that met in college, were highly competitive and left with bad feelings between them.  They end up living next door to each other unbeknownst to them.  Chassie thinks she rented a soundproof condo, but she didn’t and Tyler has to decide what to do about a neighbor making loud sounds of carnal moments most of the night.

I liked the story because it was humorous but I also got the sense early on that there was much more to what happened between these two in the past than met they eye and I wanted to keep reading to find out what that was.  The author did a good job telling past events without being too disruptive to the flow of the present day story.  I didn’t like Chassie’s lawyer work and how Tyler ultimately responded to it.

It is a really good novella length story without any wasted moments.  The ending had a fun twist, too.
