Match Me If You Can by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

 MATCH ME IF YOU CAN is Heath Champion, sports agent extraordinaire’s story.  He’s reached the point in his life plan to get a wife and as a result of some arm twisting and returning of favors, Heath ends up with two matchmakers.

Annabelle is one of the matchmakers who only has some very old people for clients and landing a match for Heath will give her business a read bump.  Her competition is quite a bit aggressive yet successful, but after a few tries Heath insists Annabelle sit in on every first match meeting - even her competitor’s.

So Heath and Annabelle spend a lot of time together - at match meetings, at athlete gatherings, at friend weekends, etc.  There are white lies, trickery, jealousies, almost kisses, eventual steam, and then heartbreak.  Heath should have known better, but you’ll see how it turns out.

When Stars Collide by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

It’s not often you come across romances that break the mold of customary characters, but WHEN STARS COLLIDE pairs an opera star with a professional football player and we get a peek at what it means to be a celebrity in each.

The two resist one another for awhile because their careers make such different lifestyles they don’t want to pursue something that has no future.

But pursue they do.  It’s a good book romance-wise and also suspense- and character-wise.  There is so much going on there is truly never a dull moment.

First Star I See Tonight by Susan Elizabeth Philips

The best thing about this book are the characters.  Piper is unique and it was interesting to watch her quirky qualities remain true until the end of the book.  Cooper didn’t actually change much, but our view of him did.

I also thought the story was good - not something I would have thought about.  With Piper’s dedication, the mysteries eventually unraveled and while I had my suspicions, I wasn’t totally right.

Good book.  I will read more of the Chicago Stars series.
