Do You Do Extras by Nikki Ashton

Wonderful characters and an original plot make DO YOU DO EXTRAS one of my favorite books this year.  It’s funny, sweet and wrested more than a few tears out me.

Phoebe is the movie extra who meets the star Grantley on the set and doesn’t treat him like everyone else does which he finds refreshing.  What I liked about Phoebe was that she stood up for what was right, she cared about other people’s feelings not what thought about her, and she didn’t play emotional games.

Grantley is such a multi layered character.  There is the actor, the son, the friend to Phoebe’s nephews, a man that respects women and expects those around him to, also.

The novel is very romantic and the “bad” language makes for some very funny moments and there are some cheap laughs in there, too.  I really enjoyed the story and how it turned out.
