Rise of a Queen by Rina Kent

The RISE OF A QUEEN starts out by answering some questions from the past about the death of Jonathan’s mother and how he meets his first wife Alicia.

In this story, I don’t know how many times I thought Aurora was making a big mistake, but thankfully Jonathan was able to rescue her.  I expected her to learn her lesson after enough close shaves, but she was stubborn and overconfident in her abilities.

This story wrapped up the main conflict with an unexpected twist.  It also resolved a number of the personal and family conflicts that plagued Jonathan before Aurora became his woman.

Reign of a King by Rina Kent

This dark romance combines murder, betrayal, insanity and obsession and takes it to a enthralling level.  Keeping up with Jonathan King and Aurora’s unconventional deal is one of the most delicious parts  of the story.  The way this evolves through book one is the kind of romance I enjoy.  Aurora keeps the all powerful Jonathan on his toes.  The most unusual part of the relationship is following the clues left about Aurora’s sister, Alicia, Jonathan’s first wife.

Aurora’s past is haunted by the loss of her sister and the depravity of her father.  She had been relatively successful in escaping the latter - but as book one, REIGN OF A KING ends, it looks like her time to escape that is up.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am moving right on to book 2 RISE OF A QUEEN.
