Dominik was very hard to like from the beginning. He was hard and concerned about money and power above all else. He was accustomed to killing people - daily, if necessary. Katerina was a smart girl with a good head in her shoulders - always trying to read the situation and in many cases, find a way to survive.
For a Bratva leader, Dominik seemed to be rapidly losing control and tried to use Katerina to recreate himself as an upstanding businessman. He had some demons chasing, however, and like with any mafia romance worth it’s salt, his enemies had to go after the things he valued most.
One thing I didn’t like about the story was there were certain themes that kept getting repeated as if we would forget them if not reminded every chapter or so. For me, these types of things interrupt the flow of a good story. Even so, I liked the story a lot, got over my dislike of Dominik after understanding him a little more, and found the plot twist near the end a really good one although I had my suspicions.
