There are many nuances to the billionaire boss/PA workplace romance trope, and BOSS ON NOTICE is my favorite take on this scenario. The boss seems to be a superficial rake, and is PA does literally everything for him including breaking up with his many conquests.
Secretly, of course, it’s always been her and when she makes good on her intent to leave, things start to change.
I love second chance, unrequited love stories and THE RULE BOOK is an excellent one. It also has a female main character who made me laugh several times, a male main character that made me swoon, and a cast of friends that were just a great kind of found family.
I normally would sit and read a book this good from cover to cover, but I really savored this one because I didn’t want to leave these people! Great plot, great characters, sigh-worthy, heart tugging romance, and a touch of sports makes it a must read if you love romantic comedies.
<strong>Family Christmas romance</strong>
The domino effect of unintended consequences describes the mechanism of AN UNEXPECTED BOYFRIEND FOR CHRISTMAS. Liam and Scarlett’s fake relationship was driven by one impulsive, though well-intended, decision after another.
I liked the dry humor and the “perfect guy” character that was Liam. Scarlet was predictably focused on the wrong things and fortunately had Liam’s patience and wisdom to set her right . Eventually.
The surprise wedding in Vegas trope gets a shot in the arm in BEST ENEMIES EVER. Gabriel and Connie’s family businesses have been intense rivals. Gabriel and Connie have followed that example in their personal lives first as children, then as adults.
But Connie is forever the little sister in her family business and Gabriel becomes her surprise champion as they navigate a potential PR disaster their drunken vows could trigger.
It’s a romance with a lot of push and shove, neither being willing to admit what they are doing together means something. With everyone in their families expecting sabotage and betrayal, Gabriel and Connie manage to shut out their noise long enough to be honest with one another.

While THE PROPOSAL stars professional rugby players, it isn’t a sport romance. It’s one of those best friend’s little sister books with the playboy, Renn, never wanting to settle down, and the good girl, Blakely, always picking the wrong kind of guys but wanting that white picket fence and kids.
Blakely is a strong female character I really loved. She stood up for herself, was funny and had great chemistry with Renn.
Renn was the bad boy you want to see reformed and read the book to see if he does.
Your patience while reading ACCIDENTALLY SCANDALOUSLY YOURS will help as you endure the years of unrequited love and missed opportunities in Bradford and Kristen’s story.
Oh, the scandal, jealousy, manipulation and revenge that keep these two apart then work to break them up. You will endure them dating all the wrong people and their bad choices in order to see why these two needed to be together.
JASPER VALE squeezed a few tears out of me. Jasper and Eloise’s start was so atypical for either of them, but the more we learned about Jasper, the more we come to appreciate just how atypical it was. He played his cards really close to the vest. Not only with us, but with Eloise and her family.
I love the grumpy/sunshine trope especially when the grumpy guy is so hard to read but you can see he is fascinated with the butterfly-like personality of the girl. With all her kindness, hard work and competence Jasper still knew how much she needed his fierce and unconditional support of her.
I’m not a fan of the fake Vegas wedding, but when we learn why Jasper takes her to the Clover chapel that day, it becomes so much more special. Loved this book.
This surprise wedding turned fake marriage romance was refreshing from start to finish. LOVE BY ACCIDENT did start out with a chance meeting between Constance and Reece both have just suffered the disappointing breakups that may come back to add drama to the story.
But the marriage gets off to a really rocky start with Constance’s family. She is so worried her impulsive behavior will reflect badly on her job and family, so they agree to pretend to really be married.
Reece was a such a doting husband and Constance a genuinely good person, so when all the drama descends on them, they can either get tighter and support one another, or run away to what feels safe.
I really enjoyed the book and felt that it broke away from the usual constraints of the trope in a good way.

While the drunk wedding in Vegas is well known, PUT ME IN DETENTION is so much more than that.
The story was unique and interesting. The way the relationship between Cora and Pike developed and was tested had me turning the pages until the book was done (hello 3AM).
I was getting as frustrated as Pike was when Cora when things got tough. I was also frustrated with Keiko’s manner of speech - which was the point - but admired the writing that was able to pull that off so consistently.
I loved the book and would recommend it,
Ethan and Lexie’s accidental marriage story is the backdrop for VERY MERRY MARRIED. The two are as opposite as can be - the lawyer/politician and the Las Vegas showgirl. The story begins with Lexie coming to Colorado to get Ethan to sign divorce papers for their drunk-Vegas wedding.
The thing that stuck with me most throughout this story was Ethan telling Lexie he finally understood something his late mother had told him:
“She said ‘Ethan, you could easily marry a woman who fits into your life. But you need to marry a woman who is your life.”
Perfect advice for opposites like Ethan and Lexie.
THE BILLIONAIRE’S UNEXPECTED WIFE BOOK 3 was about the end to a fairy tale Roman e neither Amaya nor Kristo had ever imagined for themselves. Amaya certainly had never imagined finding a man that would love having her sister live with them. Kristo never imagined love would even find him after his belief that he wasn’t able to know true love.
All three parts made a wonderful story together and I wondered more than once why it was not all in a single book.
Once again, a shocking cliffhanger ends book 2 of THE BILLIONAIRE’S UNEXPECTED WIFE compels us to make our way to book 3 despite all other worldly obligations.
Amaya and her sister Jolene have had a family void filled with Kristo’s family and they all love Amaya and Jolene, too. Kristo refuse to acknowledge he is capable of living someone after watching his father’s abysmal attempts at finding a wife. Amaya has decided to make the best of any time she has remaining with Kristo until the shocking state is revealed at the end of the book.
First, the cliffhanger was unexpected and a great impetus to read book 2.
So the “unexpected wedding” of Kristo and Amaya was fairly typical as were Kristo’s reasons for staying married for a year. What was strange was Amaya’s behavior near the end of the book. Not mysterious strange, but “what are you doing, girl?” strange.
Read the book to see what I’m talking about. Meanwhile, I’ll be up late reading book 2.
I had no trouble getting completely involved in this book right from the beginning. I wasn’t prepared for how easily Cameron would become smitten with Lakelyn. He’d been traveling as his rock star buddy’s manager for years, had superficial encounters with women, but was gobsmacked by Lakelyn, the girl who lived on the neighboring ranch all their lives.
There was plenty of passion and stem between the two of them - when Cam was not trying so hard not to give in to their mutual desires. Their accidental marriage made each of them wary of what the other’s long term expectations were. I became a little annoyed with Cam insisting they would take their relationship day by to to see how it goes and with Lakelyn for automatically assuming he meant to divorce her.
The background story of buying a racehorse and entering the Triple Crown circuit was creative and well researched. The book ended with an HEA for Cam and Lake and set up the circumstances for Logan’s story.
This accidental marriage book is a little different than most because it doesn’t begin with the couple waking up the morning after trying to figure out what happened. In ACCIDENTALLY MARRIED TO THE JERK, Vicky and Kenny had met before, hence her opinion he was “the jerk”. Vicky was best friend’s with Kenny’s brother’s girlfriend and they joined them in Vegas for a surprise proposal.
While this was a book about two people that had gone through a lot of personal changes because of challenges in their relationships and careers, it was not overly angsty. One kept trying to get the other to realize they belonged together. I’ll leave you to read the book and find out which one is Kenny and which is Vicky.
As with the books in this series, the secondary characters are seamlessly added to the story. If you read previous books, you would remember them, but it isn’t critical that you do. Their importance in this book depends on how the fit in Kenny and Vicky’s lives.
After reading the title I had a certain preconceived idea of what kind of character Kenny might be but you will learn how literal that title is. Good story! Read it!
So they get married in front of the Elvis impersonator and neither remembers anything about it. The book is about them biding time until they divorce and how they get to know one another.
Cox is a pleasant surprise as an accidental husband. He’s more attentive, sweet and caring than I expected. Sophie is the epitome of the altruism. My only complaint about her involves two incidences that I would have expected her to let Cox know about and she dragged her feet telling him. This just didn’t seem to fit the character.
This is a well written book with quite a few secondary characters from other books in the series. The reader isn’t overwhelmed with getting to know all these people, though. The personalities are so striking it is easy to tell them apart.
I sat and read this book from cover to cover, it was that good, I think you’ll agree.
The title says it all. Mafia bodyguard drunk marries the grand daughter of the head mafia guy of the world who has already been promised for marriage to another mafia family’s son.
Dom was wringing his hands (figuratively) for most of the book because Lucia was such a teasing minx. There was a lot OTT about how the marriage occurred and plays out, but that’s what we like about Jagger Cole’s writing. It’s fiction! Enjoy it!
I really enjoyed the overall story but of course the pairing of Puck and Lena really made it worth the read. Lena is the kind of heroine that is impulsive, spirited and giving. Puck shows little of himself to the world beyond a player and guy that doesn’t take anything seriously. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Their chemistry is impossibly hot and their related activities quite steamy.
The opening of the book has the two waking up in Vegas hung over and married. They ditched the pastry convention to have fun in Vegas at the beginning of the holiday season. How they deal with their fake marriage, working relationship, Lena’s family, her business partner and restaurant co-owner’s romantic crisis are what keeps us turning the pages.
If you are looking for a full length but fast paced holiday romance with lots of witty banter and interesting secondary characters you will enjoy FIRED.
Gabi and Luke kept my attention when they reunited for his sister’s wedding week in Las Vegas. They hadn’t seen one another for 6 years or so. They parted on confusing terms and Luke moved across the country, avoiding crossing paths with Gabi whenever he visited his sister.
So, we have some acrimonious feelings, a little jealousy, more than a couple of drinks and then next morning they wake up in the same bed with a marriage license! It’s Vegas, baby!
The mood of the book conveyed perfectly how confused these two were about their feelings for one another. Sometimes it seemed like they were enemies, sometimes trying a second chance at love, but always unsure about what this would do to Sophia - Luke’s sister and Gabi’s best friend. To make it even more complicated Luke’s evil ex-fiancé was there! They didn’t want to spoil Sophia’s wedding with all this drama.
I loved the story of where Gabi worked - an animal shelter for people to find service animals. It was an original plot. I enjoyed the book.
This book is for someone that like a younger voice in their characters. It had the feeling of high school level dialogue between the characters. You will also enjoy it if you like to know everything the characters are thinking.
I didn’t connect with these characters. Brett worried too much and was insecure. This is a matter of personal preference because I like the stronger male character even if not an extrovert. The story wasn’t my kind of humor.
