Long Road Home by J.W. Ashley

There is a lot to like about this book.  The writing is well done.  There are a lot of memorable lines and the description of Lincoln’s life trials were among the most interesting parts of the book.

For me, the pace was too slow.  What I mean is that the characters continually rehashing the past, holding onto resentments, dwelling on mistakes.  That is important the first, second and maybe third time, but beyond that is too much.  I felt there was a lot more story that could have been told.
