Esme Moreno’s father, a Mexican cartel leader kept Esme in a glided cage grooming her fir a beneficial arranged marriage. She longs for her freedom but marrying into the Bratva just moves her from one gilded cage to another.
Artem and Esme first encounter, I have to admit is kind of hard to believe but, it’s a story, so I’ll accept the situation since it gives rise to such a juicy plot line. Artem is the current Bratva don’s son being trained to take over for his father. Marriage to Esme is arranged and Esme is not happy.
Artem shows he’s fighting different sides of his personality. Esme challenges everything she is asked to do and I like that the impression you get is Esme rants, raves and complains and Artem doesn’t really listen - he just thinks of how hot she is when she gets mad.
A point arises where Esme realizes she has to work with Artem instead of against him. Artem does everything to keep her safe. They find lots of free time to test the sheets, too.
The book ends with a cliffhanger just like this review...
