Just His Secretary by Donna Jeffries

The humor in JUST HIS SECRETARY doesn’t go for the easy laugh - it is witty and tongue-in-cheek because the characters are smart.  Callie is the Secretary that is so much more.  She knows what Dawson wants for lunch before he does.  She puts the right color pen on his desk before he knows he’ll need a pen.  She takes order and competence to its highest level.

Dawson could have worked in the family’s multi-billion dollar business but chose to start his own successful one by his own hard work.  He never dated, he’s grumpy, rude, and often dismissive to Callie his only employee.

You will enjoy this book if you enjoy the fake girlfriend plot about the need to look stable or have a serious relationship in the works in order to inherit a company.  Dawson has a lot to overcome and resistant to change.  Callie seems more grounded but still not confident in where the relationship, and Dawson’s mother, who wears a ball gown on an airplane, arrives to spend a month before deciding the fate of the company.

I like the story and the writing style.  The drama was there but the characters were not wringing their hands and doing nothing about it.
