From the very beginning, Jesse was very hard to like. He wasn’t just an alpha-type male, he was mean and Without remorse. Convincing Lia to enter into a fake relationship contract with him to say his pro football job wasn’t easy because she had been on the receiving end of his callous treatment.
So the mean Jesse was quite the contrast for how he ended up but I felt a lot of the emotions were stilted and was never convinced Lia and Jesse gradually saw one another differently. The plot and subplots were interesting if a little predictable. I’ve read and enjoyed several of Sloane Peterson’s book and this one just seemed a bit off.
