Warner was just traded to the Florida Fury, the team with his former best friend, now enemy Ford. I read this book because of the tease that there was something in the past with Warner and Imogen (Ford’s sister) that was so bad Imogen couldn’t forgive Warner and Ford hated him.
So we have a second chance, brother’s best friend hockey romance with a guy who we think is evil (Warner), but don’t know why. The story teases us along enough that you will mentally have run through all of your guesses for what happened, and have them shot down one by one. Meanwhile, the team is not doing well because Ford won’t pass the puck to Warner and he’s also mad that all his friends don’t see what is so bad about Warner.
A lot of the story is about Warner and Imogen being thrown together as part of Imogene’s new job with the Fury. It’s really a perfect balance between the hockey team business on the ice and behind the scenes as well as the private life pressures of the players and their families. It was touching, romantic and steamy, too.
I am guessing the next book is about Cory and a woman he met … and her boyfriend?
