The story is party a continuation of the first book, Corrupted Heir, but focuses on the missing Sofia, what happened to her and why.
But the more interesting part of the book was how Nico Costa came to be a “monster” at his father’s hand. How he failed to accept the good in himself was one thing, but how he came to make a deal with his father is another.
Although some secrets get revealed early in the book, I don’t want to give anything away by talking about how the two main characters come across one another and what their past meant for the present.
As a mafia book there is a lot of family vs. family moments, distrust and suspicion of motive and loyalty, and Nico’s expertise with the knife during “interrogations”. It resolved a lot of the mysteries in book one - with some very surprising twists, too.
