I could not put this book down until I was finished. Corinne is a level headed, efficient, and indispensable assistant to Jackson who invents and implements alternative power solutions. He also has a bit of a history with the ladies. Corinne not only makes his dates for him, but also fields up to 18 calls a day from women wanting to go out the Jackson, and a few marriage proposals a week. She handles the interruptions as part of her job and keeps a lot of it from keeping Jackson from his work but it wears on her because she sees how easily his interest wanes.
After a very public breakup by a real loser of a boyfriend,Corinne starts being stalked and it is clear she is in danger. Jackson becomes very protective of her and she tries to avoid letting him control her. He just wants to spoil and protect her, but she is resistant to that.
Since Corinne knew what kind of guy Jackson had been in the past, so throughout the story she wavers between wanting to be with him and not even wanting to work for him anymore. No matter what he said to reassure her, it never seemed to quite penetrate her vulnerabilities.
Jackson was mesmerized with Corinne. The passion was hot. The possessive/protective instincts were high. They enjoyed each other’s humor. The story was a great mystery that I just had to see how it would turn out. The author did an excellent job keeping me engaged and adding interesting elements to the story. Definitely worth reading.
