Merry Me by Amanda Siegrist

The story was a good one - using a present from an unknown person to bring the two people together.

The adults made too much of simple things and agonized over things that they were only making worse by keeping them bottled up.  I suppose there would not be much of a story if everyone were forthcoming and avoided those awkward things, though.
