MAFIA KING has many elements of mafia romances - the killing, power structure, family dynasties, arranged marriages, etc. but I thought the different part of the story was the Irish mafia Kings, and the connections to the IRA.
I really appreciated how clever the prologue was after getting to the end of the book. Everyone reading the book will appreciate this right away. As far as the writing goes, there were some situations that were confusing to me and others unresolved. Right now I can’t tell if that is me or if it is some foreshadowing to events that may occur in subsequent books.
Shay was a breath of fresh air as a mafia leader. You know what they say about predicting how a man will treat you by how he treats his mother. He was a gentleman, a caveman, and a ruthless mafia king all at different times. He seemed to have had an epiphany at some time in his life and didn’t lose what was good about him.
Emma was a pistol! She fought like badger but loved completely. She won me over 100% with her solution to her laundry room “problem”.
The book is filled with passion - not just passion of romance, but passion of devotion, loyalty and honor. You will not go wrong reading this story.
